General Info:

We’re up to our 6th LAN for 2010! Finally getting a little more comfortable in our home at Law131.

This will be a single day event, starting on Saturday, March 27th at noon, stretching until Midnight. 12 consecutive hours of fun. Once again no liquor licence, so no drinking. The event will be classified a solid M so please leave your sensibilities at home. We unfortunately will not have an active internet connection. Sadly until the attendee base grows, we’ re unable to afford it. Scratch that, you guys have spoken, we have listened. Internet is back!

This LAN will also be the inauguration of our new extended capactiy network, offering a theoretical maximum of 48 attendee slots. Added to our already rock solid Dell based switch this should guarantee one of the better networks around.

We’ll also be more tightly integrating console gaming into this LAN. We’ll have a rather decent AV hook-up with massive projector screen for those wanting to do some console based fight-games.

We will be operating a DC++ HUB. This will be the only method of leeching available. We’ll be using YnHub and we STRONGLY encourage the use of DC++ 0.75. Please pre-hash your files.

As we are paying venue hire for this event, all participants are required to pay $10.00 dollars to attend.

Law 131 Redux AKA LAN#5 was without doubt our best LAN yet! Although only a 12 hour, there was loads of gaming & leeching action which left everyone with smiles on their faces.

This was the first time using our new Dell switch after the problem-fraught convention and it once again proved to be rock solid, offering good internet/gaming/leeching performance.

Attendance was also outstanding with a total of 13 atendees appearing over the 12 hours. Alot of new faces with only 4 of the usual suspects showing up.

No leeching stats this time either, stats module seems ill fitted to deal with the massive bandwidth that is gigabit Ethernet. UTAS IT also deserves a warm mention of thanks for un-funking our internet connection and saving the day! Read the rest of this entry »

General Info:

Our fifth LAN for 2010! Scheduled for the weekend immediately after the Anime Island Convention to capitalise on new blood hopefully.

This will be a single day event, starting on Sunday, March 14th at noon, stretching until Midnight. 12 consecutive hours of fun. In what appears to be a recuring theme, we’ve been unable to secure a liquor licence so this will be a dry event. The event will be classified M so please leave your sensibilities at home. Also we will have an active internet connection present.

This LAN will also be the inauguration of our Gigabit network switch. Should have either movies or X360 games going on the projector, so that’ll be a good disctraction for those wanting a short break from the lan action.
