LAN #11 – Complete
LAN #11 was an extemely solid event being held in our usual location of Law131. Attendance shrunk with 19 people showing up however a great time was had by all. Organisation suffered with yours truly failing to adhere to the timetable but the gaming was incredibly solid.
Network and power were running fault free and we continued to have a strong sale of Rockstar (500ml) and 300ml cans of soft-drink.
As mentioned previously the schedule wasn’t really adhered too, mostly because of complications stemming from problems with unvalidated games. All in all everyone had a really good time so that’s what mattered most.
Console gamer corner was a little empty however Uriumaru brought Street Fighter 4 which was rocking the big screen for a great part of the day.
DC++ share peaked at 4.9tb, which is once again down from the previous LAN but there were quite a few rare gems being shared. I once again encourage new faces to pre-hash at home to avoid computer slow-downs at the LAN.
BattleField 2 (v1.4) was once again the first order of the day, with most attendees participating. Team switching was kept to a minimum and it seems people were ready to ratchet up the difficulty and dominate the favorite maps. Room VS 30 bots proved to once again be a continual source of laughs. BF2 continues to a group favorite.
Homeworld 2 was to be the next game, however compatibility problems with the HW2 patch and Windows7 proved to be a nail in the coffin for the game. It may be resurrected for the next LAN, but only time will tell.
Worms Armageddon also suffered from massive graphical and compatibility issues, effectively ruining play for about half the room, leading to it being discarded.
TF2 however came to the rescue, entertaining the entire room. High-jinks ensued whenever you found yourself in Uriumaru’s, G’s or DharkFox’s cross-hairs.
The other two games of the day were GRID & Counterstrike: Source. Both of which were very challenging and offered a ridiculous amount of laughs and thrills.
By the end of the evening we had max’ed out of tables for attendee’s. So thats always a great sign. However at the next LAN we will be enforcing a ‘No-box on table’ rule.
We do encourage everyone to invite friends & family to the LAN’s to help us grow and continue to offer one of the friendliest LAN’s in Tasmania.
Please remember to sign up to either our mailing list on the right, or our Facebook Group. It’s an outstanding way to keep in contact with people and inform them of new events.
